Did you know that the typical dog needs $150 in medical care immediately after arriving at our rescue? The typical cat requires $60 to $90. These costs include spay or neuter, tests for the most common pet ailments, pet meds, and microchipping.
If you compare these costs to the amount we receive per adoption, you'll see there isn't much money leftover for the overhead costs of running a rescue (such as insurance), not to mention the additional medical bills should an animal have even a common ailment such as heartworm.
Every little bit helps! $10 pays for an animal to be microchipped so that that it can quickly be returned to its family if lost. $5 pays for one month of heartworm preventative.
